Catching Fire

The children of Panem are forced to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death competition. The last one alive is the winner. It's The Capitol's way of punishing The Districts and reminding them of a failed uprising years before. The day before last year's winner is set to leave on a tour to usher in the new Games, it is learned that one simple gesture has set off a chain reaction throughout The Districts. Rumors of uprisings and rebellions are being reported and President Snow holds the winner responsible for the chaos in Panem and demands this person ease the tension in the nation or suffer the consequences.

This is a must read if you've read Hunger Games. If you haven't, you need to do so and then read Catching Fire. This series is easily a favorite and one of the best I have read this year. Here is hoping the rumors are true and the third, and final book, is out in 2010.

Hunger Games is on my to-read list, which has recently grown quite long.
