The Carrie Diaries

Every Friday we will review a new book--sometimes ones that haven't even been published yet--and give an advanced copy of the book away. To get the book, it's simple: just be the first to comment on the review and be sure to tell us which library you'd like to pick up your new book at. We'll take care of the rest!

The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell

With Sex & the City 2 opening yesterday, it's the perfect time to review The Carrie Diaries, which follows a young Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school in a small Connecticut town. No, she didn't go to high school with Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha -- or Mr. Big for that matter -- but she did have her own set of fabulous friends, and a heartbreaker named Sebastian Kydd.

The story starts on the first day of Carrie's senior year and spans her entire school year. Within this year we see her fashion mistakes & triumphs, her steadfast loyalty to her friends, and the sometimes poor decisions she makes when it comes to guys. So...basically the typical teenage girl's life, but with classic Sex & the City puns and quips.

The Carrie Diaries may not be about Carrie's fabulous New York City life, but there is still much fabulousity to go around. And, even if you're not a Sex & the City fan, this book stands on its own--no need to know what happens to Carrie later in her life, because this is a complete story in and of itself.

Get The Carrie Diaries for free--just be the first to leave a comment! Don't forget to tell us which Fresno County library branch you want to pick it up at.
