Free Your Mind - Banned Books Week

It's Banned Books Week from September 24 to October 1. It's a time when libraries encourage everyone to celebrate their freedom to read anything and everything - without fear of it being censored and removed from the shelves. We believe that only you should have the power to determine what you read. It doesn't matter what you believe (or don't believe), who you love, what kind of language you speak (or what kind of language you use!), or what kind of story you're interested in...we've got something for everyone at the public library.

But, not everyone gets that, which is why libraries get hundreds of requests to ban books each year. Take a look at this list of 50 books that have been banned or at least challenged. See any of your favorites?

Check back this week for more ideas on how to celebrate your freedom to read.
